Positive Confessions

In the Middle Ages,  when a person was accused of a crime, one of the way his innocence was established was to get his friends and neighbors to attest to his character.  The attestation of these character witnesses was considered legal proof in the court of law.
God does not need for us to attest to his power or his veracity. Instead, we
Confession, literally means “to speak with” or to “agree.”  When we agree with God, we benefit.  He has the true opinion of who we are, and what the universe was meant to be.
Positive confession is not prayer in the strictest sense of the word, since it is not direct to God.  Positive confession is repeating what God already knows, It is speaking to ourselves in God’s Name, so that we may experience His blessings.
Confessing positively is telling ourselves what God has done for us.  An assurance of pardon is a form of positive confession, but there is more, much more, that we can receive when we believe the truth of how God has made us and what he can do for us.
When doubts,  worries, and feelings of inadequacy make us forget what God is capable of doing through us, positive confession is our way of answering.
Here is an example of a positive confession

“Today, I will remember that I am forgiven
Today I will remember my beauty in God's eyes.
Today I will remember to give others my honesty and my friendship
Today I will remember  that I am already loved enough
Today I will remember that I can do all things Through Christ
Today I will remember the shortness of life and the privilege of living this moment
Today I will remember the holy pleasures of praise
Today I will remember to be thankful for all things
Today I will remember that I can trust
And in trusting hope
And in hoping know
And in knowing rejoice.”

Repeat this confession to yourself, not once but many times.  Write a confession of your own.  You will be amazed how it will help you through the day.
God,  let me how You see me, and let me appreciate what you see in me.  Help me to believe what you believe, and love what you love—which includes myself.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
