Praising God Through the Psalms

Music is one of most common ways we praise God.  But let’s face it, not everyone is musical.  Some in fact would rather die than have someone else catching them sing!
Even if we tone deaf, though, we can still use music to praise the Lord.
Music is the language of the heart.  Melody, harmony, and rhythm speak to us on a visceral level. When the powerful influence of music is coupled with poetry which speaks to both the heart and the mind music can transform us
No music is adequate to praise God, but every kind of music can be used to praise God—classical, hymns, gospel,  jazz, rock rap, and even some kinds of music we never even dreamed was music can and will be found on the stages of heaven, lifting up hearts to God. But even if we do not sing a note, there are still ways of using it to praise him.
People call the Psalms the “hymnbook of the Bible”, but that assessment may not be entirely true. Not everyone agrees that all the psalms were actually intended to be sung, nor can we be entirely sure that if we heard them sung the way that David wrote them, we would recognize their musicality.  They may have been chanted or even simply recited as poetry.  Music does not have to be musical.
What was important to the Psalms were their content, not their form.  Psalms were prayers. Many of those prayers contained praise—the celebration of God’s attirbutes.  Fsalm 100 for example.
Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the LORD is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the LORD is good and his love endures forever
his faithfulness continues through all generations.

You don’t have to sing a note of to read it and enjoy it.  God is all these things, and many, many more.
Here are a few psalms you can use to praise God today. Look them some of them up, and use them to elebrate God. Psalm 24, 31, 46, 117
